The cross border mediation process

The time schedule for mediation sessions is based on the availability of the parents and the mediators and the necessity to link up with legal proceedings. The number of sessions needed may vary for each situation and is dependent on the needs of the parents and the family. Generally, three mediation sessions of three hours each will be scheduled on two to four successive week days, including Saturdays.

Throughout the mediation process a draft agreementwill be made. At all times the parents will have the opportunity to consult with their lawyers and family members. After the mediation procedure the agreements made, if any, will be recorded in a two-party-agreement. This agreement will be signed by both parents in presence of the mediators. The two party agreement can be legalized by a judicial decision or by a notary (depending on the court procedure of the involved countries).
